Just a quick update, there are now 166 members through the website, as well as another 172 members on our Facebook group.

We went to see Kung Fu Panda last Thursday, which was a good fun

Next up is possibly the biggest movie of the summer (maybe even year!)

As mentioned before, Cineworld classics are the last Monday of each month, and this months movie is the Bond classic ‘Goldfinger’ (”you expect me to talk….No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!”) - Although I’m not organising a meetup, if anyone is going or wants to meet up, just drop me a email/message.

Another interesting movie update, is the Farmleigh Drive In movies held out in Phoenix Park, tickets are free, but it’s a lottery, upcoming films include ‘Jaws’ and ‘The Snapper’

The Dublin Movie Club is a FREE weekly movie club, a great way to meet new people - as well as see some brilliant movies. Everyone is welcome, especially if you’ve never been before!

What to expect?

If you’ve never been before, I’ll introduce you and get you chatting to other members, so don’t worry if you’re a newbie - it’s not a closed group, and most people are meeting for the first time. The meet up spot will be marked with a few small balloons on a table so have a good look around the venue (don’t expect helium balloons!)

Recently, I gave a quick overview of the movie club on popular Irish discussion forum Boards.ie.

For those who’ve never browsed boards, it’s a massive discussion forum on every subject possible.

The last Monday of each month, Cineworld show a ‘classic’ movie, and having thouroughly enjoyed Bladerunner, the next 3 movies are as follows:

Monday 28th July: Goldfinger (digital print)
Monday 25th August : Fargo (original 35mm print)
Monday 29th September: Raging Bull (digital print)

Strangely enough, those are 3 of my favourite films, I’m a big fan of Fargo and it will be interesting to see what it’s like on the big screen.

The aim of the group is to meet up on a Tuesday or Wednesday night and go see a movie together in one of Dublins central cinemas (Cineworld, Savoy & Screen - for now)

The group meet a few minutes before screening and then after the film have a bit of a chinwag over a drink/coffee.
